Alex Corpus Hermoso was one of the 3 Resource Persons during the International Workshop on Fair Trade for Enhancing Market Access of Agricultural Products from Developing Countries in Asia. It was held on the 6th to 10th of September 2011 in Vientiane, Lao PDR. The Workshop/Seminar was organized by the Asian Productivity Organization based in Tokyo, Japan and hosted by the Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion and Development Office, Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Lao Peoples Democratic Republic.

Mr. Hermoso, as one of the experts on Fair Trade presented and discussed the Fair Trade History and Development of Fair Trade Advocacy and Market Potential for Small Producers. He also presented the Standards and Principles of Fair Trade and the Challenges to the World Fair Trade Organization.

The participants were senior-level managers, business representatives and officials, consultants, and academic personnel  from India, Lao, Thailand, Philippines, Iran, Pakistan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Nepal, Shri Lanka and Japan.

The Seminar/Workshop was organized to give participants the opportunity to learn about  Fair Trade through the lectures, presentations and through discussions among participants and resource persons. Participants presented their respective country papers for sharing experiences and practices. Relevant site visit in Lao was included in the seminar.
