An example of the family-based enterprise is Dorevi Industries in San Carlos City, Pangasinan. Being family-based, the production site also serves as their dwelling home. They started venturing into rattan and bamboo furniture making in 1989 but due to the slow turnover of big items, they shifted into small home and office furnishings made of bamboo starting in 1993. Design assistance was provided to them by the local agency of the Department of Trade and Industry and soon, they were able to join the trade fairs and bazaars organized in the province, region and later at the national trade fair. Although they produce products with high quality, they do not have enough market to absorb their production capacity.
PREDA Fair Trade helped to introduce and promote their products in the international market. Training and design assistance was extended to them through the project as well assistance in trade fair participation and direct worker assistance in the form of school supplies and kitchen utensils.
